The best running shoes for pronators

Pronating is probably one of the most common causes of injury for runners. Most of the time leading to achilles issues. This was personally an issue for me. Wearing Pegasus 34s, I pronated a lot on my left foot. After switching to the Hoka Clifton, the issue was almost instantly gone.

New Balance 860

A medial post controls pronation and a two layered midsole offers soft cushioning when you land. The engineered mesh upper conforms to the shape of your foot.

Saucony Hurricane

The full-length Everun midsole of the Hurricane gives splendid light cushioning for short, or up to extremely long runs. The medial posted midsole corrects over pronation, but still keeps the shoe flexible enough to give you a smooth ride. Soft breathable mesh with ISO lacing system wraps your foot comfortably, and reduces excess motion. Solid support with good shock absorption. A layer of Saucony’s bouncy Everun cushioning on top of the midsole gives a springy underfoot feel. Omni Iso has an IsoFit upper which shapes itself to the foot and the support wedge goes a little deeper in towards the middle of the shoe to give you greater support.

Mizuno Inspire

Mizuno shoes are often firmer underfoot than others. A fan-shaped wave plate in the midsole reduces pronation. A super breathable mesh gives a comfy, well-ventilated feel.

Brooks Transcend

Transcend is Brooks’ top of the range shoe for stability and cushioning. Full length DNA loft cushioning provides a soft luxurious stride. GuideRails on the inside and outside of the shoe give the foot a stable ride. This exceptionally comfortable shoe can be used for shorter or longer runs.

Brooks Adrenaline GTS

Rightly one of the most relied upon support shoes on the market. Support features offer effective pronation control and the BioMogo DNA midsole gives a great cushioned ride. The GTS’s upper features a midfoot saddle for an individualised fit.

Hoka Arahi 4

The Arahi 4 contains a J-Frame technology designed to prevent excessive inward roll, or overpronation, without overcorrecting your gait.

The Arahi 4 features a low-profile cushion bed that keeps your foot closer to the ground, and utilizes a firmer material designed to provide an efficient push-off. From a personal perspective Hoka shoes seemed to fix my pronation and achilles tendonitis instantly. And I have worn them ever since.
